About the Role

The Director of Planned Giving & Endowments will lead the strategic development and implementation of planned giving and endowment initiatives for the Jewish Foundation of Greater Nashville. This part-time role (24 hours/week) focuses on cultivating legacy gifts, stewarding donor relationships, and managing the Jewish Foundation and Life & Legacy programs. The Director will work closely with lay leaders, professional advisors, and community partners to grow long-term philanthropic resources that sustain and enrich Jewish life in Nashville.

Status: Part-Time (24 hours/week) | Exempt

Salary: $70, 000 - $75,000


Position Summary

The Director of Planned Giving & Endowments will lead the strategic development and

implementation of planned giving and endowment initiatives for the Jewish Foundation of

Greater Nashville. This part-time role (24 hours/week) focuses on cultivating legacy gifts,

stewarding donor relationships, and managing the Jewish Foundation and Life & Legacy

programs. The Director will work closely with lay leaders, professional advisors, and community partners to grow long-term philanthropic resources that sustain and enrich Jewish life in Nashville.


Key Responsibilities

Fundraising, Donor Stewardship & Marketing

• Develop and implement strategies to secure new endowment and legacy gifts.

• Cultivate relationships with current donors to encourage additional planned gifts (e.g.,

bequests, retirement assets, life income gifts).

• Supervise the Life & Legacy Coordinator

• Supervise the B’nai Tzedek Program Coordinator

• Promote Life & Legacy through community education, marketing, and donor engagement.

• Serve as a resource to donors and their advisors on charitable and estate planning.

• Build relationships with local estate planning professionals and foundations to foster

referrals and partnerships.

• Represent the financial needs of local Jewish agencies, synagogues, and overseas

beneficiaries to prospective donors.

Program Management & Administration

• Lead strategic planning for endowment growth and sustainability.

• Staff relevant committees, including the Jewish Foundation, Federation Investment

Committee and Life & Legacy team.

• Ensure compliance with legal and fiduciary standards in all foundation operations.

• Collaborate with the Investment Committee to monitor fund performance and risk.

• Maintain accurate records of donor funds, distributions, and communications.

• Coordinate with Federation departments to integrate donor development, marketing, and

fund distribution.

• Prepare and manage the endowment department’s annual budget.

• Support Federation-wide initiatives, including the annual campaign, as needed.

Supervision & Collaboration

• Reports to the Chief Executive Officer of the Jewish Federation of Greater Nashville.

• Works in partnership with the Chair of the Jewish Foundation, Create a Jewish Legacy

leadership, and relevant committees.

• Serves as a key member of the Federation’s resource development team.


Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or certification in financial planning, law, or

nonprofit management preferred.

• Proven experience in fundraising, planned giving, or financial services.

• Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.

• Ability to manage multiple projects with attention to detail and deadlines.

• Knowledge of Jewish values, traditions, and communal structures.

• Excellent written and verbal skills.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and donor management software. Blackbaud experience is a plus.
