11:30am to 2pm

Rabbi Stephen Fuchs will visit Nashville as a guest of the Temple where he will speak on Friday night and Saturday. His talk at the GJCC will focus specifically on one of the churches he spoke at in Germany where the pastor in the 30’s was an ardent Nazi commando. The pastor was convicted of atrocities at Nuremberg and sentenced to death. The sentence was commuted to life, but then the church got him released, and he lived into his 80’s. Rabbi Fuchs’ visit was part of the church’s ongoing process of atonement for this man’s crimes. For more information, visit www.rabbifuchs.com and click on blog where you will see a number of essays about the trip. Rabbi Fuchs wrote about these experiences in his essay, “The Church of The Broken Cross.”
Presenter: Rabbi Stephen Fuchs, D.Min, DD, past president of the World Union for Progressive Judaism, retired rabbi of Congregations Beth Israel, the Temple Ohabai Sholom, and Temple Isaiah, adjunct professor at Saint Joseph College, lecturer, writer www.rabbifuchs.com
