Archaeology Tour of Mound Bottom

Prehistoric Archaeologist, Aaron Deter-Wolf will lead a two-mile walking tour of Mound Bottom Archaeological Site at Harpeth River State Park. Mound Bottom is on of the largest prehistoric mound groups in Tennessee, and consists of at least 11 earthen mounds constructed between A.D. 1100 and 1300 during the Mississippian period of Tennessee’s prehistory. The 2-hour tour will include information on the site and its role in the archaeological record of Middle Tennessee and the American Southeast. Please wear hiking shoes.
